Dedication of the Armistead Plaque

24 Oct, 2025 PM 4:30 — 24 Oct, 2025 PM 5:30
Event details

In late 2024, the Cornwall Yacht Club generously donated a plaque to the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson highlighting the Hudson River wreck of the Armistead — a World War I–era ship built to transport U.S. troops and supplies to Europe. After being decommissioned, the ship was intentionally grounded and later used as a breakwater for the CYC marina.

On October 24th at 4:30 p.m., the Village will dedicate and unveil the plaque near the riverfront gazebo at Donahue Memorial Park, where visitors can learn more about this fascinating piece of history.

Thank you to the Cornwall Yacht Club for helping us honor and share this unique part of our local history.
