Until further notice the DPW yard located at 50 Shore Road will be closed for yard waste and recycling drop off. Any questions please call the DPW office at 534-7600.
The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson DPW does a weekly collection of Yard waste on Mondays from April - December. Please place curbside the night before in the appropriate containers or paper leaf bags.
Small brush (no larger than 3 inches in diameter) must be bundled and tied in lengths no longer than 6 feet. Untied brush will not be collected.
Effective Immediately: The collection facility the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Department of Public Works uses for our recycling drop off no longer accept recycling in plastic bags. We ask that you please place your recycling in reusable containers for our crew to collect curbside. Your cooperation and assistance will be greatly appreciated.

The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Department of Public Works is responsible for over 18 miles of roadways. The Superintendent of Public Works is also responsible for sanitation services, sanitary sewer mains, tree removal and plantings, maintenance of Streets during winter months.
The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. M-F (excluding holidays)
The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson is an MS4 community, and is working towards full compliance. Details regarding this can be found on the MS4 page.
Monday: Yard waste and regular garbage pickup South side of Rte. 218/Hudson St.
Tuesday and Friday: Regular garbage. North side of Rte. 218/Hudson St.
Wednesday: All recycling is done on Wednesdays.
Thursday: Regular garbage. South side of Rte. 18/Hudson St.
Items can be placed curbside no earlier then 5:30pm the night before a scheduled pick up. Containers must be removed from curbside within 12 hours of pick up.

Recycling articles include: glass (clear, brown, green), milk cartons aluminum pans, cans and pie plates, frozen food white refrigerated containers, tin.
Non-recycled items: mirrors, plastic wrap and plastic bags, styrofoam, light bulbs, chemicals or hazardous waste materials, paint cans, window glass, PVC pipe, toys, oil cans.
Recycling Options
Cornwall-on-Hudson residents have a number of options for recycling. These options provide ways in which people can extend the life of materials, save money for the Village and, in some cases, provide cash to the donor.
Bulk Clean-up:
Bulk cleanup is normally performed in the spring and fall. Spring Bulk Clean-up will be in April. Items are put at curbside after 5:30 p.m. on the Sunday before pickup under Section 88-4 of the Village Code. See below for details.

Residential Fall Bulk Cleanup Monday, October 21 2024 Items are to be put at curbside after 5:30 p.m. Sunday, October 20 2024 according to Section 88-4 of the Village Code.
Appliances & Other Metal: Refrigerators (with doors removed), stoves, washers, dryers, etc. (limit: 1 per household). Bicycles: Tires must be removed from rims. Brush: Must be tied into bundles, no longer than 6 feet in length, weighing no more than 25 pounds (loose brush will not be picked up). Electronics: NO Televisions or Computer Monitors Leaves & Twigs: Must be in cardboard boxes, cans or bio-degradable paper bags, weighing no more than 25 pounds. Lumber: Must not exceed 6 feet in length, weighing no more than 25 pounds. Latex Paint Cans: Must be empty with lids off or filled with dry material to absorb paint. Other Items: Such as furniture and household items, metal.
