COMMUNITY DRIVE TO BENEFIT THE NEWBURGH MINISTRY WINTERHAVEN

The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York was recently awarded a $54,000.00 grant from the Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology Program (CREST), which is a capital grant program administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY). DASNY serves as New York State’s public finance and construction authority. This was also the grant administration authority that the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson utilized to secure monies to aid in the construction of the beautiful pavilion at Donahue Memorial Park.
The CREST program served as a useful mechanism to aid in replacing one of the Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department’s older vehicles. Our COHPD automotive fleet is undeniably aging and coupled with supply chain issues and inflation at record levels, this grant award serves to help us continue to focus on public safety for our Cornwall-on-Hudson community while avoiding hitting the taxpayers in their wallets. A total win-win for Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.
The greater Cornwall community has also been recently blessed with the awarding of a $4.5 million NY Forward grant award. The Village then secured a $223,875.00 grant award for construction of the Dock Hill Road connector trail – awarded through the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Recreational Trails Program. What this all means is that New York State believes that reinvestment in Cornwall-on-Hudson is a great idea!
Special credit goes to Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Chief Steve Dixon and Village Clerk Doris Wickiser. Chief Dixon identified the available CREST grant, secured Board approval to proceed, and handled process of stewarding the application through the portal with able assistance of Mrs. Wickiser. We are lucky to have such dedicated public servants like this on our Village team.

Dear Cornwall-on-Hudson residents, neighbors, and friends:
One of the things I am supremely proud of as an elected leader is fact that our Village Board and the Cornwall Town Council seek to find ways to better collaborate and jointly improve our greater Cornwall community. That said, Town Supervisor Wojehowski asked me to share this conjoined NY Forward grant application effort with Village residents.
NY Forward is a new State-funded program that provides support for the revitalization of New York State’s smaller and more rural communities in order to reinvigorate local and regional economies by creating vibrant downtown destinations, all while preserving the unique characteristics of each individual community. What an honorable pursuit!
Via this NYS program, we have the unique opportunity to secure up to a $4.25 Million grant to be split equally between the Town of Cornwall and the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. As part of our continued, joint effort to serve our community’s diverse needs, we know how critical it is to include you – our community stakeholders -- in this process.
The more input we receive from the community, the better we can craft efforts designed to make greater Cornwall the most desirous place to live, work and raise our families. Although we will be prioritizing those initiatives that are most important to our community, we will seek to ensure that ALL submitted offered ideas are fairly evaluated and considered. Even if ideas do not meet NY Forward’s requirements, we will be sure to appraise the shared feedback as part of our ongoing community development efforts.
The following survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete, dependent upon the amount of ideas and feedback you elect to provide. Please respond to these survey questions with 1-2 sentences where possible.

Thank you, in advance, for your participation and feedback! Have a great weekend, all.

Friends & Neighbors,
Our Firemen’s Fair has been a summer staple in the community for the past 69 years. Generations of our community have celebrated the summer season each year by partaking in the food, games, rides and all that the fair has to offer. For some who have attended as a child, they now relive that experience with their own children or even grandchildren. The celebration has continued without hesitation despite the many obstacles that have presented themselves over the course of all these years.
The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced the cancellation or modification of many traditional spring and summer events in our community such the Memorial Day parade, River-Fest, High School graduation, and our community’s customary July 4th celebration. Unfortunately, our Firemen’s Fair is no different.
It is out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health and well-being of each and every member of the greater Cornwall-on-Hudson area that we must announce the cancellation of this year’s edition of our Firemen’s Fair. After careful and thoughtful collaboration with our partners, who assist us each year with its presentation, we found that there was no alternative other than its cancellation.
We thank the Cornwall School District, Shamrock Shows, our local first responders, Village employees, Village Officials, the many businesses and you, our friends and neighbors, that have supported our Summer Fair each and every year. Without this support, we would not be able to conduct this event each year.
So, we ask that you all mark your calendar for the 71st Edition of the Annual Storm King Firemen’s Fair to take place July 21 -24, 2021. We promise that you won’t want to miss it.

“100% Volunteer – Serving our Community Since 1868”
Dear Neighbor,
2020 was certainly a year to be forgotten for all of us. The COVID pandemic wreaked havoc on our entire country, state, and community. Through it all our fire company continued to meet the emergency needs of its residents whenever called upon. Alas, there is light at the end of the tunnel. As the COVID vaccine continues to be administered on a daily basis, our community has begun to regain some normalcy as part of our daily lives. With this in mind and as summer approaches we are happy to announce that we will once again host the 70th edition of our Annual Summer Firemen’s Fair July 21st thru July 24th this year on the grounds of the Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary School. This year’s fair promises to be very special in light of what we have all collectively faced this past year.
You will begin to see our advertising signs in the area beginning on or about July 1st. Set-up will begin Saturday July 17th with opening night of the fair on the 21st. The start time on Wed., Thur., and Fri. will be 6pm and closing time each night is 11pm. The final day of the fair, Saturday, will open at 4pm and close at 11pm following our grand fireworks display. We will host area summer camps on Wed. and Thur. between 9am and 1pm. Each night of the fair will include the typical carnival rides, games of chance, food and live music. Break down and clean- up will take place on Sunday July 25th with carnival ride removal from the grounds continuing for a couple of days thereafter.
While this annual summer event is much anticipated and enjoyed by the vast majority of our community, it can present some minor inconvenience and disturbance to some in our village. Particularly for residents such as you who reside in close proximity to the fair grounds. We do not this lightly and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. With this in mind, we would like to provide you the following contact information should you have any questions or concerns regarding this year’s fair. You may feel free to contact either of us.
